ASHA HANDICRAFTS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL PRODUCER GROUP TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM- 2023-24
JANUARY 4th – 5th – 2024
The New Year commenced with a successful training program organized for two days, for Asha’s 17 major Producer Groups from various craft centres like Jaipur, Agra, Saharanpur, Moradabad, and Panipat & Delhi working with their exclusive Handicraft products.
Asha Handicrafts Team conducted this training to help the Producer receive specific knowledge and skills to enhance their overall growth and performance.
It also discussed the overall craft production processes, challenges and needs. The gathering fostered a sense of belonging and value in Asha’s Producer groups. The major topics that were covered were Handicraft Export Market Overview and Challenges, Purchase and Samples, and Quality Control.
1. Samples Development & Purchases.
The Producer groups were encouraged to develop and create new products with the inputs received by Asha’s designers. The complete process from creating a handicraft sample, developing it according to the buyer’s requirement and receiving an order for the same was discussed at length. Various challenges like dispatch delays, late deliveries etc. Were also addressed.
2. Quality.
The importance of maintaining quality standards in the creation of products was also emphasized. In a competitive global market where consumers have a wide range of choices, high quality handicrafts attract customers and good prices.
3. Finance.
Individual and group sessions were held to share the best financial practices that will benefit the artisans and their families. The Producer groups were made aware of Asha’s various initiatives that contributes to their financial stability and growth.
On the whole the training program provided an opportunity for ‘Asha’ to increase the Producer confidence in creating a diverse product range. The Producer were also provided a platform to express their needs so that ‘Asha’ could walk along with them as they gain expertise and positively impact their social – economic lives.
